Andy Peake - The Drummer - Bio

I started playing in bands at age 16 and attended college as a music scholarship student and was recording and touring with local and regional bands by my early 20's. After college I was off to Gainesville, FL for a few years and soon answered the call to take a gig in Colorado. After 13 yrs and a lot of changes, I was offered a job in Nashville playing drums for Pop singer, Nicolette Larson. Nicolette was a great talent, but without enough tour dates by then to subsist, I was off on the gig search. I was soon hired by country legend, Tanya Tucker where I truly began to gain an education into Nashville's music history and methods of operation. It became clear that Tanya was not the perfect fit for me so worked a few other gigs until in 1990, I was hired by yet another country music legend, Don Williams. 1989 was a busy year, playing with incredible band members and touring the U.S and British Isles and playing on a Don Williams TV special. Then in 1990 I had an opportunity to tour with CBS records sister duo, Sweethearts of the Rodeo and my old Colorado friend Kenny Vaughan and made the move. In 1991, I started saying no to the touring to try to make a dent in the session scene. I worked in the studio throughout the 1990's playing on several major label releases and eventually began balancing some touring again with the studio work. Below are some of my favorite drumming projects. I am available for recording session drumming, tour dates and individual gigs at (615) 400-7573.

The Best of Country Sings Disney

The Best of Country Sings the Best of Disney

A compilation CD featuring Faith Hill, George Jones, Kathy Mattea and a Grammy nominated track with Alison Krauss on vocals. Produced by Gary Burr, I played drums on all but 2 of the tracks on the album along with a who's who of Nashville Studio greats.

Always Patsy Cline at the Ryman

Always Patsy Cline

Featuring Mandy Barnett and Tere Myers

This summer of 2011 marked my 3rd run of this original stage production created and directed by Ted Swindley and performed at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium. I was a member of the "on stage band" that provided the music for the entire play and I added some "sight gag" acting to this highly entertaining production. This year's production garnered excellent reviews and entertained a total of around 15,000 attendees over the 6 week run of the play.
